> what is #NOFILTER?
but every week, the experience will also leap (LEAP!) off the screen with physical, live events scattered across the country. more on that below, if you can be bothered to keep reading.
it's the first of its kind from pseudonym productions (that's us). players (that's you) will find themselves immersed in a mystery (#spoopy) that plays out over 6 weeks in real-time. players will sign in to a gameplay hub (our very own social media platform called Connections™ that may or may not bear a striking resemblence to the Book of Faces, with a few exaggerations). that is where much of the experience will take place - but it will also reach out to players via email, text, phone calls, video chat, and/or physical mailings. in other words, this game will be your everything. (#bff)
> what the hell is a "digital experience"? a video game?
#NOFILTER is a digital experience, which means it's not about winning, losing, or even completing the game. just like life, it's about the journey not the ending. #NOFILTER's story will feature every player in an essential part. unlike most video games, this experience has no pre-programmed NPCs (non-player characters). all characters are portrayed by live actors, whether seen on camera, in person, or hiding behind a keyboard (as we all do every day, because it's safe and we can endlessly think about what we say before we say it to make sure it's absolutely the right thing to say and we don't make fools of ourselves like that time we accidentally told aiden that one look he does, you know where he just barely smirks with a sideways glance, made us drip with--- NEVERMIND). these live characters will interact with you in real-time. as real people. that's really all we're trying to say here. so yeah, you could say it's a real-life video game.
> how much does it cost to participate?
> why do i need to sign up for a pseudonym account?
#NOFILTER is our first experience in which players are required to sign up for a free pseudonym account in order to participate. this will be true of all our experiences moving forward. pseudonym account profiles will grow over time, allowing us to learn more about our players so we may personalize and customize our entertainment for you. ultimately, it's so we can create better experiences that you'll connect with. it's something we take quite seriously and is a big part of what we do.
> what's the deal with these different player levels?
by limiting the number of signups on each level, it ensures that every player will feel like they matter - no matter which level they choose. with that said, those who want to be all-in for 6 weeks and absolutely be part of everything they can and have us basically worship them should select the Influencer level, naturally. because Influencers are the most important people in the world. obviously.
> what are these live "happenings" and where will they be?
these aren't as complex or elaborate as our past live productions, by design. they are pieces of the larger #NOFILTER experience. but that doesn't mean they won't be just as thrilling, fun, and surprising as our past productions - just on a smaller scale and for a much more limited audience. the exact locations and dates are meant to be a surprise as well, but in general they will take place across at least four major cities in florida, california, and new york. and these happenings are an opportunity for us to push comfort zones and break boundaries with a select few people in person. happenings will be designed with these individuals in mind. and we look forward to each one.
> how can i get tickets to live events / happenings?
only those actively participating in #NOFILTER will have an opportunity to attend weekly live happenings. tickets for each happening will be extremely limited and released in different ways. some will be publicly posted, others offered in private to players who earn them. that is left vague intentionally, for now.
there will be an extra cost for happenings, though that cost will vary. in short, play the game and you'll find out everything you need to know, when the time is right.
> how do i play?
you don't play the game. the game plays you.
this is the easiest question to answer. you don't need to know much of anything to play. #NOFILTER's story is a satire of social media, so it will help to be familiar with various social networks like facebook, instagram, and twitter - and all the horrible trolling, doxxing, bullying, and narcissistic behavior that goes on there. but if that's not your jam, you'll still enjoy this experience. in fact, more power to you. beyond that, just follow our lead.
> when does it begin? how will i know?
> what's the story of #NOFILTER?
this experience exists in a rather realistic alternate timeline in which the United States government has decided to thwart rampant inappropriate use and abuse of social media by regulating it (#spoopy), launching their own mandatory social network that every U.S. citizen must join. they figure, since they already govern the real world, why shouldn't they rule over the digital world too? #sadbuttrue
once drafted (yes, drafted) onto the government-subsidized social network Connections™, players will engage in compulsory tasks including daily wellness routines (like NeoGa!) and mandatory selfie duties, all while taking part in the unpredictable stories of Nolan Stauf (the conflicted creator of Connections™), Taylor Hill (the online yoga instructor-turned-influencer who hides "darker" sides of herself out of fear of being on the losing end of a hate-filled misogynistic Tweetstorm), and Vokorev (the unnaturally charismatic manipulator who is a little too good at bringing out the best – and worst – in everyone).
> what the hell is NeoGa?
> is this an ARG?
we've found that alternate reality games (ARGs) have become a very specific type of experience. they often involve hunting through website code, solving puzzles, decyphering encrypted messages, and going on scavenger hunts. while we love ARGs, none of these activites will be featured in #NOFILTER as we intentionally separate ourselves with what people know to be ARGs. this is, in fact, a game that takes place in an alternate reality, so that alone makes it an ARG. but - expect the unexpected. this isn't an ARG in any traditional sense of the term.
also - IMPORTANT - do not go digging into the personal information of our actors or the creators of the experience. that's not cool.
> so... IS this like EA's Majestic?
> how long is the experience? how much will i play?
> can people outside the United States or people out-of-town still play?
those outside the United States who select the Influencer play level should note that physical mailings will be limited.
> is there an age restriction? are kids allowed to play?
> so what are the rules?
players caught harassing, bullying, or violating the privacy of other players will be banned instantly with no refund given. again, this is not an investigative game, so please do not go digging into the personal information of other players, our actors, or the creators of this experience. just play along - and play nicely, please. or we'll unfollow you - permanently.
> it's halloween time - is this a horror experience?
> will i be called in the middle of the night? will i receive scandalous messages that will make my significant other wonder who the hell i've been texting with?
> does #NOFILTER contain blood, violence, swearing, or nudity?
> can i share what happens on social media? can i post video playthroughs?
now go back & sign up.
